وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا

كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَٰرَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ
A blessed Book We revealed to you, that they may reflect on its verses.

Begin With the Heart, Not the Order
The Quran is not arranged chronologically, so a first-time reader need not start at page one. Many find it easier to begin with the shorter, powerful chapters near the end, or with Surah Maryam, Yusuf, or Ar-Rahman. Read a little, slowly, with an open and sincere heart.
Use a Good Translation

Read as a Conversation
Approach it not as a textbook to conquer but as a message addressed to you. Ask, as you read: what is being asked of me here? Pause where you are moved. The Quran was meant to be reflected upon, a few verses at a time — and it tends to meet sincerity with light.
Open it the way you would open a letter you have been waiting your whole life to receive — slowly, and ready to be changed.
