What Is the Adhan — The Call That Echoes Across the World?

حَىَّ عَلَى ٱلصَّلَاةِ حَىَّ عَلَى ٱلْفَلَاحِ

Come to prayer, come to success. (the Adhan)

Read

What is the Adhan? The melodic Islamic call to prayer that, across the world's time zones, never falls silent — inviting humanity, five times a day, to God.

وَٱذْكُرِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا

And remember the name of your Lord, morning and evening.

— Quran 76:25

A Call, Not an Alarm

The adhan is the melodic call to prayer, announced aloud before each of the five daily prayers. Its words proclaim God's greatness, bear witness that there is no god but God, and invite the listener to 'come to success.' It is a public, daily reminder of why we are here.

Unbroken Around the Globe

Because of the earth's time zones, the adhan is never silent. As it ends in one city it begins in the next, rolling continuously across the planet from the rising of the sun to its setting. At any given moment, somewhere on earth, someone is calling humanity to God.

Words That Move Hearts

Many converts trace their journey to the first time they truly heard it — a sound at once ancient, mournful and full of longing. It interrupts the busyness of life with a simple proposition: there is something more important than what you are doing right now. Come.

Five times a day the world is invited, in a voice that has not stopped for fourteen centuries: come to success.
