What Does Islam Really Say About Terrorism?
مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًۢا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا
Whoever kills a soul unjustly, it is as if he killed all of mankind. (Quran 5:32)

What does Islam say about terrorism? It is unequivocally condemned — the Quran equates one unjust killing with murdering all humanity, and forbids harming innocents absolutely.
وَلَا تَعْتَدُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ
And do not transgress; indeed, God does not love transgressors.

An Unequivocal Condemnation
The Quran states that to take one innocent life is like killing all of humanity (5:32). Islam forbids the killing of non-combatants, including women, children and the elderly, prohibits suicide absolutely, bans the destruction of crops and places of worship, and condemns spreading terror. There is no loophole for murdering innocents.
Stolen Words
When violent groups cite scripture, they tear verses about specific historical battles out of context and ignore the strict conditions that surround them. Mainstream scholars across every school of Islam have condemned terrorism in the clearest terms. The actions of a tiny minority betray the faith they claim.
The Greatest Victims
It is also a fact often overlooked that the overwhelming majority of victims of terrorism committed in Islam's name have been Muslims themselves. The world's nearly two billion Muslims — the neighbors, doctors and friends most people actually know — live the peace these criminals violate.
A faith that equates one unjust killing with the murder of all humanity cannot be the source of terror — only its betrayal can.
