Why Do Some Muslims Act In Ways That Seem Un-Islamic?
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ ٱلنَّاسَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلنَّاسَ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

Why do some Muslims act un-Islamically? Because they're human and fall short. Judge a faith by its teachings, not its stumbling followers — culture is not the same as religion.
كُلُّ بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ خَطَّآءٌ
Every child of Adam is prone to error.

Judge the Standard, Not the Stumble
Muslims are human beings who fall short, like everyone else. The right way to evaluate any faith is by its teachings and its finest examples, not by the failures of its followers. A doctor who smokes does not disprove medicine; a Muslim who lies does not disprove Islam's command to be truthful.
Culture, Not Religion
Many behaviors blamed on Islam are actually local customs, tribal traditions, or political failures that often directly contradict the faith. Honor crimes, forced marriage, the denial of education to girls — Islam itself condemns these. The careful observer learns to separate culture from religion.
The Faith Sets the Bar
In fact, when a Muslim acts cruelly, dishonestly or unjustly, they are not following Islam too closely but departing from it. The teachings remain a fixed standard that judges every believer, including those who betray it. The gap between the ideal and the individual is itself a call to do better.
Do not measure a faith by those who fall short of it — measure it by what it calls them to become.
